The Phoenix class was a 25th century Federation starship type, a civilian hospital ship and medical vessel class in Mariposa Medical Group service in the 2400s decade. Doctor Beverly Crusher's SS Eleos XII was a Phoenix-class vessel. (SDCC Issue 05: "SS Eleos")
In the 2410s, this ship type was operated by the Khitomer Alliance members as the tier 6-rated Eleos class intel scout vessel. The SS Eleos XII (NAR-59019) served as the lead ship of the class. (STO website: Unparalleled: Command the Eleos Intel Scout Vessel)
History and specifics
The Phoenix class was a small vessel at a length of 119.7 meters. By default, the bridge was located on Deck 1. Aboard the SS Eleos XII operated by Dr. Crusher and her son Jack Crusher, deck one was abandoned and the ship operated from a control center on Deck 2. Ships of the class were equipped with impulse engines and a warp drive. The livery was gold with a blue stripe banding on the hull. (SDCC Issue 05: "SS Eleos")
In the year 2401, the Crushers ferried medical supplies aboard the Eleos XII into the dangerous former Romulan Neutral Zone sectors on behalf of the Mariposas group. The Eleos XII was captured by rogue Changelings and destroyed when the Warship Shrike used a tractor beam to slam the vessel into the Starfleet starship USS Titan-A. (PIC episode: "Disengage")
In 2411, the hull was grey with a blue stripe. The Federation operated this class alongside the Khitomer Alliance members as a tier 6-rated intel scout vessel, combining the capabilities of intel starships with scout vessels. Its standard weapons included the phasers and photon torpedo launchers. Specifically, an Eleos-class intel scout vessel was armed with pairs of phaser dual heavy cannons and photon torpedo launchers on the fore and a pair of phaser turrets aft. (STO - Unparalleled mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
This class was equipped with a impulse engines, warp core and a quantum slipstream drive, enabling it to reach impulse, warp, transwarp and quantum slipstream velocities. Cloaking was not an innate ability but could be achieved by the installing a cloaking device. The hull was modular and could be modified at shipyards interfaces operated by New Romulus Shipyards, Klingon Defense Force Order of Builders and Starfleet Shipyards Operations at Alliance facilities across the Milky Way Galaxy. (STO - Unparalleled missions: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", "Explore the Flotilla", "The Hunt is On", "Ceremony")
Bridge officer stations beside the commanding officer allowed for a commander-ranked officer doubling as intel officer and science officer, a lieutenant commander doubling as officer of any department and miracle worker, a lieutenant commander of any department, an engineer holding the rank of lieutenant and a tactical officer ensign. As an Alliance intel scout vessel, it combined the active sensor arrays 'gather intel' mechanic and warp signature masking of intel starships with sensor analysis, subsystem targeting, secondary deflector dish of science vessels with the raider flanking typical of scout vessels. A battle-hardened ship of this class benefited from precise weapon systems, enhanced particle generators, enhanced weapon banks, enhanced restorative circuitry and, initially unique to the Eleos class, power specialist credentials. This starship trait temporarily improved shield regeneration and exotic particle generator output. (STO website: Unparalleled: Command the Eleos Intel Scout Vessel)
