History

In the 22nd century, the designation of Freedom-class starship was carried by a two-nacelled United Earth design. (TOS movie: Star Trek Beyond)

The Freedom class entered service in the year 2361. It was designed by the Andorian Imperial Guard to provide Starfleet with a warship. Its primary production shipyards included the Antares Fleet Yards at Antares, the Imperial Ship Yards at Andoria and the Consolidated Fleet Yards at Tellar Prime. The modern Freedom class served as a light frigate in the 24th century. (TOSC Issue 118: "Freedom Class")

The USS Firebrand was a Freedom-class starship active in the 2360s decade. In 2367, the Firebrand was among the losses Starfleet suffered against the Borg at the Battle of Wolf 359. (TNG episode: "The Best of Both Worlds")

In 2379, the Andorian Imperial Guard began building Freedom-class starships with quantum torpedo launchers. Another variant of the ship was built by the Tellarites and trialled in the Tellar system. (Star Trek Adventures RPG module: Utopia Planitia Starfleet Sourcebook)

In 2382, the California-class USS Cerritos was transformed into alternate reality versions of itself. Two of the USS Cerritos from other quantum realities were Freedom-class starships. (LD episode: "The New Next Generation")

Alternate reality

In one quantum reality, the Freedom-class was built from the same hull components as the California-class. In the 2380s, this design included a California-class saucer section with the engineering hull attached on the ventral saucer; a pair of nacelle pylons flanking the secondary hull and connecting to a single warp nacelle. A ship of the class was the USS Cerritos (NCC-75567). In another quantum reality, the exterior and interior of the alternate Freedom class had gold or yellow highlights.
