Lasustelvan, formerly Nu Chalcedonis, was a star system located at coordinates 8.3S 7.2E along the border of Romulan territory and the Triangle sector in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, not far from the Imperial Klingon States.
History and specifics
In the 22nd century, this location was considered part of the Triangle sector, situated at the borders of the expanding Coalition of Planets and the Romulan Star Empire. It served as a Starfleet resupply and rendezvous point during the Earth-Romulan War.
During the war, the Nu Chalcedonis system's orbit was the site of the Battle of Nu Chalcedonis, on reference stardate 1/0712.25. Earth's 12th Strike Wing, with three full starship squadrons, came upon a Romulan-crewed convoy in a disorganized state near an allied rendezvous point. The Starfleet forces decisively defeated the Romulans, destroying all their vessels while taking only light casualties. The convoy had been led by Commander Lasus. (FASA RPG module: The Romulan War)
By the 23rd century, Romulus had annexed Nu Chalcedonis. In honor of Lasus, the system was renamed Lasustelvan, or "Lasus' Sorrow" in the Romulan language. (FASA RPG modules: The Romulan War, The Triangle)
By the 2280s, sixth planet Lasustelvan VI had become an important dilithium crystal mining site. (FASA RPG module: The Triangle)
- The stellar notation using the Greek language letter "nu" indicates that there might be a star group or constellation of some sort named "Chalcedonis", of which Nu Chalcedonis would logically be indicated to be the thirteenth most prominent star or system.
