Georgia is a region of the North American continent on the planet Earth, with boundaries that were created as the area was settled as a geopolitical subdivision of the United States of America nation.
The Federation starships USS Georgia were named for this location.
History
Georgia was the site of a number of battles during the American Civil War, including the Battle of Pine Mountain. Colonel Thaddius Riker - a Union Army officer and distant ancestor of Captain William T. Riker - was present at the battle. During the battle Thaddius was seriously injured. His life was saved when a member of the Q continuum who would come to be called Quinn carried him to safety following the Battle of Pine Mountain, Georgia. (VOY episode: "Death Wish")
On 16 March 2031, a UFO was shot down by a F-35A joint strike fighter northwest of Savannah, Georgia near the town of Bloomingdale. The injured alien pilot and its wreckage were taken to Fort Benning for analysis. (TNG novel: Hearts and Minds)
Leonard McCoy was born in the city of Atlanta, Georgia in 2227. (TOS reference: The Making of Star Trek) In the late 2250s and early 2260s, he kept a home in the city of Macon, and resided there when he worked at the Starfleet Teaching Hospital. (TOS novel: Enterprise: The First Adventure)
