Vagle was a 23rd century Human man. He served in Starfleet as a transporter chief aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2260s and in 2280 under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.

Biography

In 2267, Vagle transported Migina Haidar out of a building on Rimillia just before rebels stormed it. When he beamed up Spock and Lieutenant Hughes, he was stunned at the sight of their nearly fatal injuries. Using emergency intraship beaming, he sent them directly to sickbay, reorienting them so they rematerialized on biobeds.

He also helped Hikaru Sulu scan for an isolated, storm-free site to get genetic samples of a cyclone tree. Vagle beamed him to a park, retrieved him after a wild animal attacked, beamed him down again, then retrieved him after a snow storm hit. (TOS novel: Twilight's End)

In 2268, during the Enterprise's visit to Distrel, he beamed down two landing parties. Later, he beamed James T. Kirk, Pavel Chekov, Sulu and Montgomery Scott to Prastor. When they were trapped under Nevisian shields, Spock worked to lock onto them, but their signals were lost. Vagle retrieved a Stella Mudd android, but she said the others had been vaporized. Vagle was shaken by the news. Spock let him continue to search for them, and thought Vagle would be scanning for several hours. Later, after they'd been recovered, Vagle beamed Stella back to York III. (TOS novel: Mudd in Your Eye)

In 2280, Vagle beamed Kirk up from Belle Terre. He pointed out with a grin that Kirk had his jacket on inside-out. (TOS - New Earth novel: The Flaming Arrow)
