Starfleet Intelligence Operations School was a 24th century Starfleet Intelligence graduate institute of higher learning located on the planet Tellar. Focusing on skills needed in espionage field operations, it was one of four schools within the overarching Starfleet Intelligence Branch School.
History and specifics
Qualified recruits usually had graduated from Starfleet Academy, then excelled on duty at a Starfleet starbase or aboard a starship for at least one year. (Last Unicorn RPG module: The First Line: Starfleet Intelligence Handbook)
In the 23rd century, the school offered a 2.5 year program in field operations studies that enhanced students' qualifications in numerous areas such as clandestine operations, computer operation, gaming, leadership, marksmanship, security procedures, planetary survival, shuttle piloting, stealth, and surveillance. Students were able to take electives and advanced training classes as well. Graduates spent the next six months as trainees on a probationary field mission, sometimes a cadet cruise. By the 2370s, students focused on at least one field-work specialty in the area of espionage, such as cryptography, intelligence techniques, covert communications, and forgery.
