History and specifics
Ophiucus III, home of a Federation colony, was a planet located in the system. (TOS episode: "Mudd's Women")
- The novelization in Mudd's Angels named the world Ophiucus VI.
In 2256, the USS Discovery drove off a Klingon attack in the system by utilizing their spore drive. This was later cited by Federation Starfleet Captain Gabriel Lorca as one of the crew's successes in a meeting with Admiral Katrina Cornwell. (DSC episode: "Choose Your Pain")
Ophiucus VI was also located in the system. Prior to 2269, Harry Mudd cheated a year's supply of dilithium crystals out of two miners there. (TAS episode & Log Three novelization: Mudd's Passion)
A scout crashed on Ophiucus VII in the 22nd century, leading to native, feudal Ophiucans advancing technologically far more quickly than usual. A starship visited the system in the late 2260s in search of the crashed vessel. (TOS board game: The Adventure Game)
