The MIDAS Array, short for Mutara Interdimensional Deep Space Array System, was a 24th century Federation space station, an array operated by Starfleet Communications from the Communications Research Center in San Francisco on Earth in the 2370s decade. (VOY episode: "Pathfinder")
History and specifics
The array in operation in 2376.
MIDAS was a successor to the 24th century Argus Array subspace telescope and was more advanced when it was brought online in 2368. (ST reference: Starship Spotter)
The MIDAS Array was deployed by Starfleet and the Vulcans. In the year 2376, Lieutenant Reginald Barclay operated it from Earth to establish communications with USS Voyager, an Intrepid-class starship stranded in the Delta Quadrant since 2371. MIDAS was a key technology of Project Pathfinder. (VOY episode: "Pathfinder")
In 2411, MIDAS personnel was evacuated in a ploy to lead the Aetherian Concordium to this system. The array filmed video of the Khitomer Alliance flagships operating around MIDAS during the approach of the Aetherians. Following a skirmish between Concordium and Alliance forces, Aetherian leader Thaseen-Fei was successfully captured aboard her disabled ship, the Harmony. Later identified as T'Fei, the Aetherian was transferred from the MIDAS Array system to Deep Space 9. (STO - Kings & Queens mission: "Best Laid Plans")
