A command cruiser is a type of starship, a starship classification assigned to a cruiser that has been outfitted as a command ship. This designation was used by the Federation Starfleet in the 23rd century. (ST video game: Starfleet Command)

History and specifics

In the 2280s decade, several Enterprise-class vessel were designated as command cruisers, with the abbreviated code "CC". All of these vessels were capable of being modified further to the specifications of advanced command cruisers ("CC+" or "CCX").
