Themis was a Federation colony planet located not far from Starbase 23 and light years away from the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone.

History and specifics

In the 23rd century, it was a sparsely-populated world, inhabited mostly by scientists conducting agricultural studies. (TOS novelization: Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)

In the 2280s, Flammarion-class research vessels were assembled at the Themis Shipyards. (Stardate Magazine vol. 3, Issue 5: "Federation Flammarion Class VIII/IX Large Research Vessel")

In the 2290s, Carol Marcus oversaw the establishment of a new research outpost on Themis.

Early in 2293, Klingons staged an unprovoked assault on Themis. Survivors reported a ship that seemed to fire while cloaked — later determined to have been a weapons test of General Chang's prototype IKS Dakronh. The attack killed Sohlar and critically wounded Marcus. (TOS novelization: Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)

After recovering, Marcus set about rebuilding her outpost. (TNG novelization: Generations)
