The Tenara Cliffs (also known as the Tenaran ice cliffs) were an area of Trill. Although the climate around them was quite cold, with a biting wind, large snowdrifts, and permafrost, the Cliffs were a popular place for hiking. The surrounding area was home to the Tenaran seal. The cliffs were two hundred feet high. They were located in the coldest reaches of the southern hemisphere. (ST reference: Federation Travel Guide)

History and specifics

While on Trill in the year 2371, Jadzia Dax hoped she would be able to take Benjamin Sisko to the ice cliffs. (DS9 episode: "Equilibrium")

In 2376, an away team including Doctor Julian Bashir, Lieutenant Ezri Dax and Ensign Thirishar ch'Thane beamed down to the Tenaran ice cliffs from USS Defiant to rescue Doctor Lenara Kahn from Verad Kalon, only to be ambushed by men hiding in the snow who then kidnapped Dax and beamed away with her. The office of Farik, editor of the newsmagazine Seeker, afforded a view of the Tenaran ice cliffs. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)

Ensign Jarek Maxson and Lieutenant Kell Perim were on the Enterprise-E holodeck climbing the Half Dome section of the Tenaran ice cliffs when Perim injured her knee. (ST - A Time to... novel: A Time to Sow)
