Simplicity is the sixth of seven TOS roleplay modules released online by Mōdiphiüs Entertainment, this one in July 2018. It was part of the Living Campaign, playtest development for the Adventures RPG game. Player groups were invited to provide feedback to contribute to the game's development. Material from the module was subsequently updated and merged into the Shackleton Expanse Campaign Guide as a one-page Mission Brief in chapter 7.
Description
- Admiral Stoker arrives aboard the USS Lexington, ordering the crew to investigate another site from the map found on Bacchus IV, resulting in a conflict with Starfleet itself.
Summary
Log entries
- Captain's log, stardate 5336.
- We have been hailed by a shuttle from the USS Calico. For some reason, Admiral Banna Stoker is alone on the shuttle, and she should be arriving at any moment. How she got a shuttle from the Wolcott, and why she is alone, is a mystery that should be solved momentarily when she docks. I am heading to the shuttlebay right now to meet her, and hopefully get some answers.

Background
- The original version included a detailed description of Stoker's shuttle and the name of Wolcott's CO, Shaarsen. It mentioned Nyseri's children Cheola and Zoori, and provided details on the Pasquali settlement and culture.
- Stoker's physical description in the original story was added to a new Stoker character page in chapter 8 of the hardcover. Stoker's son's backstory was retained in a sidebar in act 1 of Punishment and Crime, the Shackleton Expanse Campaign Guide's adaptation of the seventh TOS Living Campaign adventure.
- In the Living Campaign, Simplicity was followed by Punishment and Crime. The sourcebook inserted three more Tilikaal-related Mission Brief adventures between them: Into the Heart of Murasaki 312, Return to Beta Niobe, and Emergency on Ceti Alpha V. However, as written, only the Murasaki story could actually take place between Simplicity and Punishment and Crime in 2269. Return to Beta Niobe was explicitly set in 2270 and Emergency on Ceti Alpha V was set after The Wrath of Khan in 2285.
