The Horta dissolved rock with their acids to digest the mineral content, they also used their acids to burn through rock, moving as easily through it as a humanoid might through air. (TOS episode: "The Devil in the Dark"; DS9 novel: Devil in the Sky)
In 2279, Astrid Ericsson saved her mother from Zuleika Walker using rocks. The first rock threw Walker off-guard before the second, landing perfectly between Walker's eyes, caused the assassin to topple over, allowing Astrid to kill her.
