Red Shift — memory beta

Red Shift is a cross-faction mission within Star Trek Online. This storyline mission was published as part of the release of Season 25: Shadow's Advance on 25 January 2022. It is the second mission in the "Terran Gambit" story arc. Its release celebrates the game's 12th anniversary and introduces Kate Mulgrew as voice actress, reprising the role of Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway.

Description

Federation: There has been an incident at Jupiter Station. Admiral Janeway is leading the relief operations there, and has asked for backup. I'd like you to join the Admiral at Jupiter Station and provide any assistance she might require. Be prepared - if the Terrans are bold enough to strike at the very heart of the Federation, they must be up to something big.

Klingon: The Starfleet research station over Jupiter was hit by a dishonorable attack from the Terran Empire. It could be the prelude to a full-scale invasion. If they were bold enough to strike at the very heart of the Federation, they may have similar plans for the Empire as well. Starfleet has assigned Admiral Janeway to lead the relief operations at Jupiter. I'd like you to join her. Provide any assistance she might require... and should the Terrans return, show them what it means to be an enemy of the Klingon Empire.

Romulan: There has been an... incident in the Sol system. The Starfleet research station over Jupiter was attacked by the Terran Empire. A bold maneuver, to be sure... and one that concerns me greatly. If the Terrans were bold enough to strike at the very heart of the Federation, they may have similar plans for New Romulus as well. Starfleet has assigned Admiral Janeway to lead the relief operations at Jupiter. I want you to join her efforts there. Find out all you can about the Terran plans, especially where the Republic is concerned. If invasion is coming, we must be ready.

Dominion: I bring you greetings from the Founders... and some unsettling news.; A Starfleet research station in the Sol system was attacked... by the Terran Empire. Some believe this to be the precursor to a wide-scale invasion. As you know, Terrans are particularly xenophobic, often to the point of genocide. If the Terrans were brave enough to strike at the very heart of the Federation, they may have similar plans for the Dominion as well.; Starfleet has assigned Admiral Janeway to lead the relief operations, and I want you to join her. Be vigilant - if the Terrans are on the path to galactic war, the Founders will want to know about it. And if the Terrans attack, remember... victory is life.

Summary

Aboard Jupiter Station, following the repel of the Terran attack in "Iuppiter Iratus" and providing support for nearby damaged ships, Admiral Janeway holds a briefing with Admiral Leeta (mirror), the player and Marshal Kathryn Janeway (mirror).

The mission next switches to a flashback, retelling the events of "Iuppiter Iratus" from the Terran perspective. The player takes the role of the Inquisitor - the player's mirror counterpart, who's gender, species and appearance match the player's character except for wearing a vocoder and the Inquisitor uniform. Marshal Janeway, Captain Sylvia "Killy" Tilly, Kuumaarke and the Inquisitor infiltrate Jupiter Station and fight Starfleet forces to recover a prize for the Emperor of the Terran Empire. Before they can recover the body of Lieutenant Ilia, Killy, Kuumaarke and the Inquisitor turn on the marshal, who materializes her own Borg drone shock troops. However, the traitors overpower Janeway, kidnap Ilia from her stasis pod, and leave the marshal behind.

Back in the present, marshal agrees to an alliance of convenience, with all parties aware of the eventual backstabbing. Janeway is loyal to the Emperor, and looks for revenge against Killy, Kuumaarke and the Inquisitor.
