A nebula is a large space cloud of gas and dust, theorized to be the raw material that stars and star systems originate from. They vary in size and composition and there properties can often be used to create a tactical advantage, though some can also damage starships and represent hazards to navigation.

History

In the 23rd century, rare antimatter nebulas were harvested for use in huge starship refueling stations such as the one near Starbase 14 in 2267. At least one antimatter nebula was found to be inhabited by intelligent, gas-like, antimatter-based entities known as "cloudlings". (Adventures RPG module: The Burning)
