MacReady was a human, Sheriff of North Star in the 2150s decade. (ENT episode: "North Star"; ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia)

Biography

Though he referred to Skagarans with the prejudicial term "skags", MacReady was a reasonable man at heart who was dedicated to the maintenance of law and justice, at least to the best of his abilities. In 2153, MacReady met Jonathan Archer when he stopped Bennings from harassing Draysik. Despite that, he had Bennings and the other deputies make sure that Archer left the town. MacReady then spoke with Archer about Bethany's punishment and to get out of town.

When Archer disappeared in a flash a light, MacReady made it clear he would look into anything odd in Skag town and would not allow Bennings or anyone else hurt the Skagarans. Later, MacReady and the town's inhabitants then saw a Shuttlepod land in town. MacReady was approached by Archer, who revealed himself as Captain of the Earth ship Enterprise NX-01. MacReady then spoke about how Archer was born and raised on Earth. Archer then told him that they couldn’t ferry them back to Earth due to their current mission with the Xindi. Archer also told MacReady that he and other humans would have let go of their prejudice against Skagarans if they wanted to go back to Earth. Despite this, MacReady then agreed to see the Enterprise and assure the townspeople that Archer and his crew were not there to harm her. After meeting Archer's XO, T'Pol, MacReady was then shot by Bennings and his followers. MacReady tried to convince Bennings that were from Earth, and not aiding the Skagarans. MacReady was then taken to cover by T'Pol. After the firefight, MacReady agreed with Archer that their laws about the Skagarans were outdated. After the Enterprise left, MacReady then went to one of Bethany's classes were both human and Skagaran children were learning about the Orville and Wilbur Wright's flying machine. (ENT episode: "North Star")

In the 2330s, MacReady was still alive and became a woodworker. During this time, he then met one of the USS Stargazer officers, Lieutenant Jean-Luc Picard. There, Picard gave MacReady a power converter in exchange for a wooden desk for Captain Humphrey Laughton. (ST reference: The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard)
