The Edesians were a spacefaring civilization native to Edesia Prime, the prime planet in the Edesia star system, located the galaxy's Delta Quadrant. The Edesians and their enemies, the Gimlon, outwardly resembled the Ocampa, with the typically scalloped ears, and vaguely Vulcanoid facial features. Unlike the short lived Ocampa, Edesians were notable for their longevity. (VOY novel: Battle Lines)
History
The Edesians maintained a technologically advanced and progressive society. Although they were not warlike, they became embroiled in a conflict with the ruthless Gimlon. Conscription led to civilians becoming officers in the Edesian Fleet, including teachers turned commodores.
The Gimlon acquired a Doomsday machine and outfitted it with their technology in order to threaten the Edesian homeworld and force the Edesians and other species into submission. The Edesian Fleet began gang-pressing passing starships into their increasingly deprived fleet.

In 2375, the Edesian Fleet captured the Federation Intrepid-class starship USS Voyager. After performing repairs and restocking the ship's supply of photon torpedos, Captain Kathryn Janeway was forced to accommodate an Edesian admiral and fight the Gimlon.
Some of Voyager's crew became stranded on a Gimlon vessel.
Ultimately, Voyager and Commander Chakotay's Gimlon ship helped destroy the Gimlon planet-killer, ending the war. (VOY novel: Battle Lines)
Conversely, late in the year 2374 or early 2375, one month after the Silver Blood duplicate USS Voyager and its crew had departed the Silver Blood homeworld, the N'Kree attempted to conscript Voyager into their own battle fleet but were thwarted. (VOY episode: "Course: Oblivion")
