A battle module[1], or combat module[2], was a type of technology, a piece of equipment categorised as a module. Such a module could be used in combat to improve performance. (STO website: Unveiled: Welcome to Earth Spacedock)

Battle modules

Battle modules were Ferengi technology equipped on marauder starships. The Battle Module 3000 of the D'Kora-class helped disrupt an enemy's subsystems. It was discontinued and replaced by the Battle Module 4000 in the 2410s decade. Both the Nagus- and Quark-class marauders were equipped with the Battle Module 4000. This battle module was an improved variant of the Battle Module 3000 and allowed the FMS Quark to transform into marauder battle mode, to weaponize an EMP and fire swarm missiles. Combat modules

Personal and team combat modules were consumable devices that 25th century Khitomer Alliance officers could carry on away missions and use to boost their effectiveness in combat with hostiles. In the 2410s, the Drozana Station-based Lobi Crystal Consortium sold personal combat modules for the price of one Lobi crystal per unit, and team combat modules for the price of 2 Lobi crystals. The Consortium offered them in the varieties of damage resistance booster, health and shields booster, health and weapons booster, and shield and weapons booster. In the 23rd and 25th century, Starfleet operated the Kerala-class starship. The class, lead by the prototype USS Kerala (NCC-2255), was equipped with the broadside combat module, a console-operated special weapon that fired a series of pulse phasers in rapid succession from the ship's broadside arcs.
