"Aversion" is the last of four short stories from the water portion of the New Worlds, New Civilizations anthology released by Pocket Books in November 1999. It was written by Michael Jan Friedman and illustrated by Jamie Tolagson.

Description

A privileged glimpse into the darkened caverns and pools of the Trill symbionts.

Summary

New apprentice Trill Guardian Rantic Lan visits the Caves of Mak'ala, spotting symbionts for the first time. The 21-year-old Trill introduces himself to the Order of the Guardians' Timor. Timor shares a lesson about a Guardian's love for symbionts leading to a terrible tragedy, the story of Aylim and Marh.
