2055 was, on Earth's calendar, the 56th year of the 21st century, and the sixth year of the 2050s decade. Although this was a time period before Human formulation of stardates, this era begins with stardate 2055.0^[1].

Events

The Treaty of San Francisco is signed, bringing Earth's World War III to an end.^[2]
Zefram Cochrane began to experience symptoms of his bipolar disorder during the the aftermath of the war. His manic periods drove him to obsess over his work, and at one point, he spent ten days straight in the missile silo, working without food or water.^[3]
The SS Lyons Creek is scrapped.^[4]
The Vulcans make first contact with Trill around this year. The highly divisive first contact "crisis" engenders many policy changes regarding the symbionts, including putting the symbiont pools under guard. The Trill government adopts a xenophobic stance, repulsing any contact with other alien species. Messages were sent to alien ships asking them to bypass the Trill system.^[5]
According to one account the Eastern Coalition is founded, as result of the conquering of much of Eurasia.^[6]
