A ton, metric ton or tonne is a unit of measurement which measures mass and, as a factor of force release, energy from explosive releases.
Units of mass
- A single humpback whale has a mass of "about 40 tons". (TOS movie: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
- Balok's cube had a mass of "about 2,000 metric tons". (TOS episode: "The Corbomite Maneuver")
- When the star Doona became a supernova, a surviving piece had a mass of 10,000 tons. (TOS comic: "When Planets Collide")
