Science Colony 4457-Delta was the name of a independent[1] science colony[2] on the planet Omicron Theta.

History and specifics

In the late 23rd century, the colony was founded, eventually growing to a population of 411. Its primary focus was science, though it also cultivated farmland. (TNG episode: "Datalore", LUG RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Core Game Book)

FASA described the planet as newly discovered, with Soong founding the colony personally in 2334. Varying populations were reported in FASA RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Officer's Manual, ST website: StarTrek.com, and TNG - Starfleet Academy novel: Loyalties.

By the year 2328, an archeological expedition from the colony had conducted a dig in nearby mountains. (TNG episode: "Silicon Avatar")

By 2334, Noonien Soong and his wife Juliana Tainer had established a residence at the colony, where he succeeded in developing the sentient androids Data and Lore. (TNG - Cold Equations novel: The Persistence of Memory; Star Trek Adventures module: Core Rulebook)

In 2336, the colonists were killed by the Crystalline Entity, along with the rest of the planet's lifeforms, although the colonists' memories lived on within Data.

Data was found on the surface by the USS Tripoli in 2338. Lore was found in a hidden laboratory by the crew of the USS Enterprise-D in 2364. (TNG episode: "Datalore", TNG - Cold Equations novel: The Persistence of Memory, LUG RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Core Game Book)

The Federation Science Council subsequently sent science teams to Soong's complex in hopes of unearthing more of his research. (LUG RPG modules: Star Trek: The Next Generation Core Game Book, The Price of Freedom)
