A ripperworm.

Ripperworms were long, vicious worm-like creatures that inhabited the polluted filth of Nausicaa.

History and specifics

Fully grown ripperworms grew to be between one and four feet long, and the front quarter of their bodies was covered in poisonous barbs. They were pack hunters, using their ability to sense heat to track down and swarm prey, leaving no remains of their meals. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Planets of the UFP)

Ripperworms could subsist on bacteria in organic waste, but thrived on large prey. They were able to digest a humanoid-sized animal within minutes. Imminent eating put them in a frenzy, even eating other ripperworms who got in their way. They were susceptible to radiation and disease in toxic waste. They laid large amounts of eggs, then scattered to find a new home. (Decipher RPG module: Creatures)

The Orion crime boss Kaldo Pell was known to use a pit of ripperworms to dispose of his enemies. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Planets of the UFP)
