Red Square is a landmark region within Moscow, the capital city of the Russian nation-state on the planet Earth. It is located just east of the Kremlin.

Background

The surface of Red Square was inlaid with white cobblestones. A network of underground passageways had been built under the square during the era of Russian czars. Various entrances to the tunnels had been added over the years, including stairwells that led to Lenin's Tomb and the Kremlin. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1)

History

During a time travel visit to Moscow in the year 1942, Pavel Chekov traveled in a groundcar over the cobblestones of Red Square en route to the Kremlin. After meeting Joseph Stalin, Chekov walked through Red Square, then hitched a ride on a truck. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)

In October 1986, prior to her assassination attempt on Mikhail Gorbachev and planned coup d'etat of the Russian government, KGB Colonel Anastasia Komananov walked across Red Square and visited Lenin's Tomb. Within the tomb, she overcame a disguised Gary Seven, then outside in the square joined soldiers to fight against a teenaged Khan Noonien Singh. She committed suicide with one of Khan's daggers while in the network of tunnels under the square. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1)

In February 1994, Seven recalled Khan's battle on Red Square, concluding that Khan should never be underestimated. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 2)

At some point, four arcologies were built in Red Square. (TOS - Plot-Your-Own Adventure Stories novella: Distress Call!)

In the 2250s decade, a young Chekov kissed a girl under the shadow of a statue in Red Square that commemorated glasnost. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)

In 2277, Chekov saw an illusion of Red Square while under the influence of the Vardan illusion machine, particularly the four arcologies. (TOS - Plot-Your-Own Adventure Stories novella: Distress Call!)
