A records officer is a crew position aboard Federation starships, a Starfleet officer's title responsible for the reports and records. This includes the archiving of log entries.

A command division position, the records officer answers to a specific branch of Starfleet Command, Starfleet Records. The records officer position was reserved for an officer with sufficient rank and security clearance.

In the 2260s decade, the USS Enterprise's records officer was Lieutenant Commander Benjamin Finney. (TOS episode & Star Trek 2 novelization: Court Martial)
