Merrigold Press was a children's book and coloring book imprint of Western Publishing. In the late 1970s, Western reprinted its TOS Whitman coloring books under the Merrigold brand, most with cover imagery from The Motion Picture.

Merrigold split the narrative of "Rescue at Raylo" over two 32-page books and fixed an error in the original edition that identified Spock as "Doctor Spock". It abridged "Planet Ecnal's Dilemma" to 32 pages, repurposing most of the cut pages for a non-narrative presentation in "Far-Out Fun". The various pages of Whitman's "Futuristic Fun: Star Trek Color & Activity Book" were split into "Futuristic Fun" and "A Launch Into Fun".
