Klah was a Trill beverage. It was imbibed fresh, as it would ferment and take on a foul odor in a short period of time. The Trill idiom "uncork week-old fermented klah" meant to make a social mistake, similar to the Human phrase, "put my foot in it". (TLE novel: Well of Souls)
