Jason Thompson was a male human Starfleet officer on board the USS Enterprise in the 2260s.
History
Thompson accompanied Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, and Doctor McCoy to the surface of Mygdalus III. After the landing party's arrival, Thompson suffered severe head trauma and massive internal injuries due to a Virtili attack. The Mygdalians quickly took custody of Thompson, healing his injuries. As Mygdalian medicine was derived from exploiting cloned biomatter, the Mygdalians created 2472 transporter clones of Thompson.
After the Enterprise had visited Starbase 17, the stasis field on one of Thompson's clones failed, allowing him to escape the compound and board an Orion freighter, sending a distress signal to the Enterprise. After McCoy had confirmed that the clone was identical - barring the injuries gained in his escape - to the original, the Enterprise returned to Mygdalus III. After the landing party found the other clones, they released them all to confuse the Mygdalians, along with cloned Gorn and Klingon warriors. Kirk managed to negotiate with the Mygdalians, freeing the clones and demanding the practice be stopped. Thompson's clones subsequently left the Enterprise to build their own lives.
