The Helvans are a race of people who originated on planet Helvan, in or near Federation space's 23rd century borders, somewhere in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

The Helvans were humanoids. The males of the species undergo a phase called falat in which their horns grow longer.
In the year 2273, the Helvans were gripped by a plague of madness. Admiral James T. Kirk and the starship USS Enterprise were sent in to investigate the Helvans' situation. (TOS novel: The Prometheus Design)
