Emi was a humanoid female who lived in the 24th century and was attempting to obtain self-sealing stem bolts for the companies owned by her family. In the year 2371, she tried negotiating with Quark on Deep Space 9 for some stem bolts, even going so far as to perform oo-mox for him, but he postponed the deal as her family wouldn't be on the station for nine more days.

Later on, Emi ended up receiving advice from Grand Nagus Zek (who was altered by the Prophets during a trip through the Bajoran wormhole) on how to purchasing the stem bolts for wholesale prices, with the pair agreeing that Quark had been charging an outrageous price after Zek explained everything to her.
