Benson was a 23rd century Human individual, a crewperson in the Federation's Starfleet in the 2280s decade. Benson was assigned to the weapons division aboard the starship Enterprise-A in the year 2286. As a weapons officer trainee, Benson was under the command of the security chief and tactical officer, Pavel Chekov. During training, a yellow alert caused Chekov to suspend a training session and assign Benson and Allocca to positions at the weapon control junctions in the starboard engine room.
