Apache is the collective name applied to culturally related groups of Native Americans from the North American continent on Earth.
History and specifics
Starfleet Lieutenant Spirit Claw Sanaway, who served aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2240s decade, was of Apache descent, as was USS Enterprise-A crewmember William Bearclaw. The starships named USS Apache were named in honor of this group, as was the Apache-class.
