The Advanced Robotics Institute was a 24th century Cardassian space station type, a research institute specialized in robotics and dedicated to the research and construction of dreadnought missile drone ships, in the Central Command Guard's and Cardassian Defense Force service in the 2370s decade. History and specifics

A under construction.

A robotics research institute under construction.

It was commissioned by the Detapa Council after recent breakthroughts in advanced robotics that convinced the leaders of the Cardassian people to devote facilities to further research this field of development. It also served as the source of construction for the powerful dreadnought missiles, which were built at the Institute itself.

The Advanced Robotics Institute was a type of space-based research facilities that constructed dreadnought missiles for the military of the Cardassian Union. The design consisted of a central ring studded with nine pylons, and a smaller ring in the center connected to the outer ring by a bar. The dreadnought missile was constructed inside the central ring, held vertically with the bow facing upward. A station of this time required 20 officers and a crew of 300 people to be fully staffed but could operate with a minimum of 5 crewpersons. Advanced robotics stations were unarmed and lacked engines. They were constructed in situ by a complement of five workbees deployed from a nearby construction ship. It cost 2000 dilithium and 2000 metal units to build an advanced robotics institute. An additional 1000 units of each resource were needed to construct a single dreadnought missile. A station of this class, acting as a shipyard, could build one dreadnought missile at a time. (ST video game: Armada II)

Dreadnought missiles of the Cardassian ATR-4107 type were launched as early as 2369. (VOY episode: "Dreadnought")

In the year 2377, space stations of this type were operated by the post-Dominion War Cardassian Union and Gul Kentar's uprising against the Klingon occupation. (ST video game: Armada II)

In 2379, Lieutenant Commander Carey provided instruction on this space station class during a training simulation at Starfleet Academy. (ST video game: Armada II mission: "Tutorial: The Cardassians")
